Color Shapes 3 - Mareike Böhmer

Two rounded shapes fill an ochre sheet. The upper one is lilac-pink, brushed in loops that leave a paler square at its centre, with deep red showing along both sides where an earlier layer was not covered. The lower one is almost black, a soft-cornered block of charcoal aubergine laid on in broad flat strokes. The paper is left bare around them.

Painted in acrylic on paper, each shape laid down in a few loaded strokes with the brush marks and the dry edges left as they fell. Available as a poster or fine art canvas print in multiple sizes.
