Fragmented - Naïve Art by YLR

A face in profile fills the sheet, built from flat planes: a cream cheek, an orange mouth and a closed eye ringed in red and black. Dark hair falls behind it in one heavy mass. Around the head the ground is divided into blocks of cobalt, red, yellow and green, ruled off with thick charcoal lines that run down the cloth like drips. The weave shows through every colour.

Acrylic and charcoal on raw cotton, the colour laid flat and the lines drawn over the dry paint, in the naïve and folk tradition.
