A single tall form rises through the centre of this narrow abstract composition — a column of layered cream, sand and near-black that tapers and widens as it climbs. The surrounding field is equally textured, built from dragged and scraped paint rather than clean fills. There is a monumental quality to the composition despite its restraint, as if a simple mark has been given weight through patient accumulation.
