La Dominicana - Naïve Art by YLR

A woman's face is left without eyes or nose, so her full red lips, large gold hoop earrings and warm brown skin carry the portrait. A cobalt blue headwrap holds a red hibiscus with green leaves, glittering bronze curls rise above it and a single golden curl falls across her forehead. Behind her, a harlequin pattern of sky blue and burnt orange diamonds is outlined in gold.

Naïve Art by YLR is the self-taught Dominican painter Yahaira Lidia Reyes Jimenez, who works in the naïve and folk art tradition with acrylics, gold leaf, metallic pigments and impasto, drawing on Afro-Caribbean and Taíno culture. Available as a poster or fine art canvas print in multiple sizes.
