Peony Crown - Art By Biba

A woman's head and shoulders turned in three-quarter profile against flat coral red, with black paint flicked across the ground around her. She is painted in greys and white, eyes closed, with a dark bun and a hoop earring, and the only strong colour on her is a crown of pink peonies and green leaves above her forehead.

Acrylic on canvas, the figure kept in greyscale and the flowers laid on in thick strokes. Biba Smith is a self-taught painter from London, now living in Hertfordshire, who works mainly in acrylic and takes much of her subject matter from the sky and space.
