Sheep and Bunny - A Meeting in the Meadow - Anna Milewska

A woolly sheep and an alert hare meet nose to nose across a flat turquoise field, each rendered in fine cross-hatched pencil work borrowed from nineteenth-century engravings. Every curl of fleece and every whisker is drawn out in detail, so the two animals read almost photographically against the flat, saturated ground. Their locked gaze gives this landscape-format piece a stillness somewhere between natural-history plate and quiet comedy.
