Where the Light Escapes - Matthews Gallerie

A small child in a dark hooded coat and boots stands with their back to us in front of a vast cracked concrete wall. A jagged diagonal fissure runs across it, glowing ochre yellow, and butterflies lift out of the split, growing larger as they climb toward the upper right corner. The plaster is grey and bone white, worn through in places to patches of slate blue and deep red.
