Brushstroke Nude - Art By Biba

A standing female torso built entirely out of loose brushstrokes in turquoise, raspberry pink, cream, violet and black, set against a soft lilac-pink ground. Nothing is outlined: the shape reads from where the strokes stop. Turquoise paint has been let run and drips down the ground on both sides of the figure.

Acrylic on canvas, laid on in single loaded strokes and left to drip where it ran. Biba Smith is a self-taught painter from London, now living in Hertfordshire, who works mainly in acrylic and takes much of her subject matter from the sky and space.
