A man sits bare-shouldered against a black ground in a soft blue cap pulled low over his forehead, a cigarette burning at the corner of his mouth. The face is painted in close detail — lined brow, grey stubble, one green eye and one brown — and the light falls from the front left, leaving the right side of the head in deep shadow.
