Winter Masks - Cristina Iacob

Ten carnival masks are stacked together against a dark green and red ground, each with a long white sheepskin beard and moustache. One wears a striped conical hat, another a purple one, a third a red-and-white pointed cap. Their faces are red, green and ochre with bared white teeth, and the eyes are cut wide open.

Oil on canvas, the fleece worked in thick white strokes over the darker ground. Cristina Iacob is a painter and art conservator in Suceava, Romania, whose work draws on nature, memory and the traditions of Bukovina. Available as a poster or fine art canvas print in multiple sizes.
